2nd Annual Graden Vincent Smith Golf Tournament Information

Morning Shotgun Information

Registration starts at 7:00 am at the clubhouse with a shotgun start at 8:00 am.  Please park in the Grace Church parking lot and we will provide a shuttle to and from the clubhouse.  The driving range will be open and is free to anyone participating in the tournament.  Doughnuts and Juice will be available.  Please note that for those that are not able to make it back for the evening dinner you do not need to be present to win any raffle prizes.  We will call you if you win.  We'd even be happy to call if you have would like to place a final bid on some of our auction prizes.

Afternoon Shotgun Information

Registration starts at 1:00 pm with a shotgun start at 2:00 pm.  The afternoon foursomes can park at the clubhouse.  The driving range will be open and is free to anyone participating in the tournament.

Dinner Information

Immediately following the afternoon portion of the tournament, dinner will be provided at Grace Church, (right next door to the golf course).  We will have a short presentation about our foundation followed by awards and prizes.

The 1st Annual Grady Golf Tournament a Success!

Over $9,000 was raised as a result of the event through partnerships with 18 corporate sponsors, 23 hole sponsorships, and 30 foursomes.  With these funds, Grady's Decision will seek non-profit 501c3 status as well as assist other area NICU families as they endure the many struggles and challenges premature births bring whether they are financial, emotional or spiritual.  Your partnership in ministering to these families will be a beacon of hope and influence to these parents during a life changing and difficult time.  Thanks for your commitment and compassion!

As a result of the overwhelming success and feedback from the 1st tournament, we have already reserved Whispering Woods to host next year's annual event on Saturday, August 14th, 2010.  We are confident that 240 golfers will participate next year and have arranged a double shotgun start (8:00 am and 2:00 pm) as a result.  Accordingly, we have 60 foursome slots available and are already reserving spots for next year!

Athletes in Action's ‘Graden Vincent Smith Memorial Field’
Capital Campaign

In the spring of 2007 Athletes in Action opened a Sports Complex in Xenia, Ohio, with athletic facilities including a baseball field with an all-weather surface. Since that time, Athletes in Action has hosted over 30 college teams (including Dayton, Wright State, Youngstown State, Xavier, Ball State and Valparaiso), over 40 high school programs, and various camps, showcases and tournaments. The Athletes in Action summer team plays their Great Lakes Collegiate League home games at the Sports Complex field. In an effort to give athletes and fans a great baseball atmosphere, Athletes in Action plans to build a 550 seat covered stadium for our field. This facility will include 100 chair-back seats and a press box. Once the stadium is completed, Athletes in Action will be able to provide a small-town minor league baseball feel that will further their ability to serve not only the players, but the families, friends and baseball fans from Xenia and the surrounding communities.

Why ‘Graden Vincent Smith Memorial Field'?

Athletes in Action has hoped that their baseball stadium’s naming rights would go to a person who has an appreciation for God’s ability to transform lives and receive honor through the game of baseball. Ryan and Katrina Smith, friends of Athletes in Action, gave birth to twins born 3 months premature. Unfortunately, Graden lived only 52 hours. To further God’s legacy through this little boy, the Smith’s desire to direct the love and support they have received toward construction of a venue that will someday bear the name “Graden Vincent Smith Memorial Field”, a field that tells the story of a couple who put their trust in Jesus even through the most difficult times.
